Stuart Bailey – President

Stuart became President of the Society in 2010, although his first involvement with Lifesaving and RLSS UK was much earlier taking his “Elementary Badge” at the age of 11 years and working his way up through various schemes qualifying for the highest awards in Lifesaving and Lifeguarding. Having had an early interest in Beach Lifeguarding and Inshore Rescue Boats Stuart became a founder member of RLSS Poole Lifeguard in 1975. Onland work with Wessex and Northumberland and Durham Branches led to working on National working groups and Committees, without an idea that he would one day become National President & Chairman of the RLSS UK.
Stuart trained as a Mechanical Engineer with a Marine Equipment (Commercial Shipping) Manufacturing Company and remained in that market with Sales & Marketing functions.
Peter Moyes – Deputy President

Currently Deputy President of the Society; Lifesaving has been the main body to which Peter has committed himself for over 25 years. Peter has had an intense and demanding career and during the early part of his professional career found that pursuing his sporting and coaching aspirations were a welcome distraction. Naturally being involved with Swimming and Lifesaving he was invited to assist at a local club. His involvement has grown from club management to Branch, Regional and now National influence. In 1988 Peter became a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers’ Lifesaving Committee and Chair for 2007 and 2008, influencing the use of lifesaving techniques in the service. He has an in-depth knowledge of the Society and believes passionately in the role of supporting our volunteers and staff.
Eddie Lang – Honorary Treasurer
Eddie qualified as a Chartered Company Secretary and Local Government Accountant (South Africa), whilst working in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), and has spent the greater part of his working life in Africa and the Far East. He was Financial Advisor to RLSS – UK between 2003 and 2008, during which period he developed and implemented the present budgeting and financial reporting systems. In mid-2008, he was appointed by the Management Board to the Trustee post of Honorary Treasurer. He holds the PADI Open Water certificate but prefers to dive only in tropical waters.
Ian Hutchings – Chair of National Sports & Recreation Committee

Ian became Chairman of the RLSS UK National Sport and Recreation Committee after having been involved in lifesaving and a member of RLSS UK for over 40 years. With a passion for sport Ian has always competed in life saving competitions and has many national titles to his name. In addition Ian has coached both youth and adult competitors who gone on to gain many national titles. He is passionate that all of our athletes always recognize the need to maintain their basic rescue and life support skills and regards sport as a way of enhancing these skills. Ian’s ambition is to continue to develop RLSS UK in the sports field encouraging more to take part in this absolutely unique competitive sport.
Peter Brown – Chair of National Programme and Development Committee

Peter is Chair of the National Programme and Development Committee and member of the RLSS Management Board. Peter trained and qualified as an RLSS beach lifeguard. He worked closely with RLSS HQ whilst vice-chair of the National Water Safety Forum, currently the Chairman (and a coxswain) of Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS) and an RLSS Club in the Wessex Branch. He was previously employed by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency in a variety of roles largely associated with UK Search & Rescue. He is now a consultant focusing on maritime safety in the UK leisure community and Aviation operations management.
Stephanie Andrews – Branch Representative

Stephanie is a founder member of the Woking Life Saving Group in 1964 and also Thames Rescue Service in 1968. She has held all the Society Awards up to Diploma, Rookie Instructor and TA LS. She competed in the 1st National Lifesaving Championship finals in 1969 and continued in both lifesaving and lifeguard competitions for many years before moving on to become an Official. Stephanie is now an International B Referee and has officiated at Commonwealth and World Championships, as well as our own UK Competitions. In her Branch she has held many different positions through the years but is currently the Hon Secretary and President of Surrey Branch. In her working life, she was a teacher and more recently an SSCo involved in the Schools Sports Partnerships.
Bryan Finlay – Branch Representative

Bryan has been involved with RLSS for over 20 years and was a member of his local club and used to compete at the lifesaving championships. He was able to gain full teachers and examiners qualification when he was 18 years old and was invited to the branch AGM to represent the club. After joining his local branch committee as a youth representative he has held various posts - Public Relations Officer, Awards Secretary, Chief Assessor and then the branch Lifesaving Co-ordinator. He is now the branch Chairman and feels privileged to have held this for the past 5 years.
Bryan has worked for the Scottish Ambulance Service for 10 years and is a paramedic and now the Community Resuscitation Development Officer. Before the Scottish Ambulance Service he was involved in the leisure industry and also worked within community education.
Chris Harper - Youth Advisor to the Management Board.

Chris has recently joined the Management Board. He joined Beeslack Lifesaving Club at the age of 8 years old and has been involved ever since. He became an Assistant Teacher and then a Trainer Assessor. He has competed for many years both with Beeslack and the University of St Andrews Lifesaving Club and remains involved in the hope of helping others to gain as much enjoyment from lifesaving while they’re learning essential skills.Chris is an avid sports fan and when he’s not lifesaving he also plays cricket, and occasionally, shinty. He has been a debater since high school and has both judged and competed at the Debating World Championships.
Clive Holland - Regional Representative

Clive started his lifesaving career around 1980 with the basic awards and progressed through the Training and Assessing awards eventually being appointed a Tutor in 1991.At the same time he held various Branch posts culminating in Chairman and President. He was elected Regional Chairman in 1995 and, in 1997, appointed to the Management Board. He served as President between 2004 and 2010 and was re-elected to the Board in June 2011 as Regional Representative. He is currently Chairman of the West Region. He is also a an RLSS Commonwealth Vice-President and a Director of International Life Saving and of its European Region. Away from lifesaving, he is a solicitor and partner in a law firm in Hampshire.
