IQL UK joins CIMSPA as an awarding organisation partner

The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity has welcomed IQL UK as their latest awarding organisation partner.

IQL UK is the trading subsidiary of The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), the drowning prevention charity. They offer a wide variety of qualifications to lifeguards and other sector professionals.

Their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, the most awarded pool lifeguard qualification in the UK, as used by 95% of pool lifeguards, will be the first of their qualifications to be endorsed by CIMSPA, the sector’s single chartered professional body.

IQL UK are also keen for their comprehensive first First Aid portfolio including first aid at work, emergency first aid, paediatrics and AED qualifications endorsed by the sector’s single chartered professional body.

The development of CIMSPA’s professional standards matrix will also benefit from IQL UK’s extensive expertise in drowning prevention and lifeguard training and management.

Speaking about the new partnership, CIMSPA CEO Tara Dillon said: “Getting IQL UK onboard as our latest awarding organisation partner is very much the ‘last piece of the jigsaw’ in building a robust qualifications endorsement landscape. I’m excited that their iconic pool lifeguarding qualification will now be backed by the sector’s single chartered professional body.”

The CIMSPA & IQL UK partnership completes the network of the UK’s largest aquatics awarding organisations joining CIMSPA, with the ASA and STA already signed up. IQL UK are CIMSPA’s 11th awarding organisation partner, joining 1st4Sport Qualifications, Active IQ, Innovate Awarding, NCFE, OCR, Pearson, Sports Leaders UK and YMCA Awards.
