Hello! I’m James and I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new Youth Advisor to the Board of Trustees. The role formed nine years ago to ensure young people were represented at the highest level of our organisation, as RLSS UK is committed to providing opportunities for them to flourish. I’ve been with the Society for eight years now, starting with the heritage lifesaving awards when I was 14 at my local club. Throughout my time with RLSS UK I’ve progressed to holding various committee posts, which saw the majority of my work actively promoting the club, branch and society in the local area to drum up new members.

It was fantastic to see so many people of all different ages collecting awards at our National Presentation of Honours ceremony in Worcester. I had the pleasure of briefly meeting with most of the ‘Young Lifesaver of the Year’ award winners, and it was interesting to hear how they have helped the society in its aims. Congratulations to all the award winners.

I’m really looking forward to the next three years and hope I can ensure young people across the UK and Ireland are well represented. I very much welcome any feedback or comments so I can represent the best interests of young members, so If you’d like to get in touch, please email me: [email protected]. I’ll also be posting my activity over on my Twitter page: @Youth_RLSSUK.
