Welcome to my July blog and I make no apologies for it being a short one. This is due to the fact that I’m away for a couple of weeks in the South of France, camping near the coastal town of Moilets.

I’m excited for many reasons primarily, because I get to spend quality time with my family, but also it gives me the opportunity and space to recharge the batteries as I try to detangle myself from work emails and phone calls.

When I return, it will be very busy as we start to prepare for a new strategy which will be launched in 2020. I can’t say too much at the moment, but I’m absolutely buzzing about the future and what it will bring. I think it will provide great momentum for RLSS UK and will really build on our reputation, skills, expertise and commitment to reducing the number of drownings across the UK and Ireland.

Exciting times!

I shall be relaxing with a gin and tonic and be contemplating our journey!

Finally, I’m very excited because the surf is supposed to be excellent (an old friend runs Star Surf Camps and they have a base in Moilets so it must be good!)  I hope to catch some waves and try to improve my surfing skills. We may even drop into Star Surf Camp for a family lesson.

Our campsite also has a great fun pool complex for the kids and is pitched next to a large lake, so plenty of water-based sports and activities are planned.

Which reminds me, the water is a great place to spend time as a family, but you always need to be aware of the dangers. So, if like me, you are on holiday have a great time but stay water safe.
