Lifesaving Sport

The Royal Life Saving Society UK is the National Governing Body for pool-based Lifesaving Sport - a sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation. Lifesaving Sport is the only sport whose skills are first learned for humanitarian purposes.

As showcased in our new promotional video, Lifesaving Sport is a competitive and dynamic international sport, with a variety of fun and challenging activities that take place in and out of the water at swimming pools and the beach. It is also an important vehicle to engage young people in lifesaving and support drowning prevention.

The British University Lifesaving Clubs' Association (BULSCA) are pleased to announce that their Student Championships will take place on the first weekend in March 2024.

It is BULSCA's flagship event of the year, where clubs come together and compete in a two day competition.

On the first day, the competition takes the same form as the RLSS National Speed Championships. Clubs form teams consisting of up to twelve members, who take part in various individual and relay events.

The second day, takes the form of a normal league competition with the exception of the speed events. The clubs from the first day split into three teams of four, who compete in all team events.

The overall Championships result is formed from the results of the first and second day combined.

To sign up, please complete this BULSCA form before midnight on 27 January 2023.
