The World Health Organisation has described the global drowning problem as at epidemic levels and the 3rd highest child killer.

We at RLSS UK are committed to reducing drownings both in the UK and abroad. We are delighted to announce the launch of a volunteer lead project to develop the necessary youth work force to help combat the global issue.

As part of the Society’s 125th anniversary celebrations we will be hosting a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador Programme. The week long programme starts on Saturday 20th August 2016 at Margam Park, Swansea and will look to equip, train and develop our youth members to be ready to engage with commonwealth partners to impact these horrific daily tragedies.

The week will be action packed full of fundamental development opportunities that will equip young people to be able to lead, participate and develop drowning prevention both in the UK and across the world.

The programme is designed for people aged 18-30-years-old and provides the opportunity to be part of a life changing experience exploring: international culture; a variety of drowning prevention measures; and your own skills and personal development

Are you an RLSS UK member? Do you want to make a difference and be a part of the Youth Ambassador Programme? Complete the Application Form along with the Personal Values Assessment Form and return it to Kenny MacDermid – [email protected] by 11 March 2016.

Applications will be collated centrally and distributed to local RLSS UK branches for a decision to ensure that local ambassadors are engaged to select a candidate that will also maximise the impact to the delivery of the branches drowning prevention ambitions.

For more information about the programme please do not hesitate to contact Kenny MacDermid by emailing [email protected] or calling him 07469118517.
