Latest News Getting to know your Board of Trustees – Debbie Hunt Name: Debbie Hunt Position on the Management Board: Branch Representative RLSS UK member: 42 years Life outside of RLSS UK: I live in a small village in Kent with my husband and have two grown up children, Ella and Andrew. I work for UK Anti-doping, an organisation that protects the right to participate in clean sport. This is my ideal job as I get to watch fantastic sport and spend time with amazing athletes – and get paid to do it! I am currently on a ‘get fit campaign’ as myself and six past presidents of the Kent Branch are doing a English Channel relay swim next year (and I am the oldest!). Lifesaving background: I loved swimming and when I found out I could get another hour in the water by doing a lifesaving course, I was hooked. I loved taking part in all the competitions and consequently became a judge. I have been on the Kent Branch Management Board for quite a while and I am now a Branch Chairman, which I consider to be a great honour. Guilty pleasure: I am passionate about Dover Athletic Football Club – the greatest non-league football club in the world. Inspirational figure: My inspirational figure in lifesaving is the recently deceased Eric Stokes, the founder member of the Kent Branch. He was a true gentleman who gave me very good advice. My inspirational figure outside lifesaving is Sir Chris Hoy. He gave me a cuddle when I was a Games Maker at the 2012Olympics. Favourite holiday destination: Japan Favourite food: Thai Favourite book: My favourite book is Flower Fairies of the Summer. It was given to me by my aunt when I was four-years-old and I still love it. Favourite RLSS UK event and why? National Lifesaving Championship is my favourite RLSS UK event. This event is a true test of lifesavers’ lifesaving skills.
