What's on Latest News Local Hero Honoured A youth member of Yeovil Life Saving Club (YLSC) has been commended for her quick thinking and prompt actions, which saved her mother’s life. When Samantha Hobbs found her mother unconscious and not breathing at home, she immediately started cardio pulmonary resuscitation to preserve her mother’s life whilst her father phoned for an ambulance. However, after 10 minutes of CPR Samantha began to tire but instead of stopping she instructed her father how to perform CPR until the paramedics arrived. Samantha’s mother has now made a remarkable recovery and is back at home thanks to Samantha’s prompt actions in using the lifesaving skills she gained while at Yeovil Life Saving Club. In the presence of her mother and father and peers at the club Samantha was presented with a Royal Life Saving Society UK Young Persons Certificate of Commendation by Club Chairman, Vernon Bartlett. She is delighted to have received the award and has tweeted her delight to us that the lifesaving skills she has learnt helped save her mother’s life. Samantha holds Royal Life Saving Society UK awards; Heritage Bronze Medallion, Life Support, Survive & Save Silver Medallion. Both she and her parents are keen to spread the word about how useful lifesaving skills are and want to encourage as many people as they can to get involved.
