Latest News Royal Life Saving Society UK Autumn Walk Join us on our inaugural autumn walk this half-term, for a seasonal charity stroll with a twist! The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is holding its very first autumn walk in Worcester this half term and to raise water safety awareness and funds for the charity. The drowning prevention charity relocated to Worcester in January and is keen that as many people come along to find out more about its work, as well as learning important water safety information that could save lives. Walkers will enjoy the 2 ½ mile* route starting at Waitrose, London Road, on Monday 23 October and they will be joined by the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Steve Mackay. The walk kicks off at 11am and will finish at Diglis Basin Marina where The Anchor Inn, has kindly supplied a warm, dry room for us to put our feet up and enjoy a complementary hot drink. RLSS UK Events Manager, Stuart Haynes, said: “Our autumn walk is the perfect excuse for you and the family to get out and about in the fresh air and it won’t cost you a penny to take part! “We hope as many people as possible come along to meet us and learn some valuable safety skills at the same time. It will be a fun, light hearted event for all the family.” As well as appreciating the scenery, the route will have a series of informative pit-stops designed to educate the local community on water safety, as well as the chance to raise some valuable funds for RLSS UK and our drowning prevention work. The event will also feature a prize raffle, free to enter for all our walkers. RLSS UK would like to thank Worcester City Council, The Canal & River Trust, The Anchor Inn, the Mayor and Waitrose for their invaluable support. *Whilst our fingers are crossed for a dry day, we’ll still be packing our boots and macs for the walk…it is October after all! The route is paved but has stretches of uneven terrain and is deemed suitable for buggies and wheelchair users, with assistance. There are no toilet facilities on the route. RLSS UK Autumn Walk.
