What We Do Our Qualifications Become a Trainer Become a Lifesaving Instructor Tutor There are two ways you can become a Lifesaving Instructor Tutor. Route 1 - Pool TA Paper Questionnaire Update Route 2 - Lifesaving Instructor Tutor Course Become a Lifesaving instructor 1 – Pool TA Paper Questionnaire Update In order to become a Lifesaving Instructor Tutor, you will need to purchase a Lifesaving manual for instructors, then request the multiple choice question paper from [email protected] - the question paper consists of 35 multiple choice questions of which 80% will need to be answered correctly in order to pass the update. Once you have been awarded with your new status, you will gain access to the resources to be able to deliver awards and train new Lifesaving Instructors, these can be found on the RLSS direct website. The Lifesaving Instructor Tutor qualification will allow you to deliver the following courses: Survive and Save programme Community workshops (Save a baby’s Life, Save an adult’s life, Save a child’s life and Save a life (AED)) Life Support & Life Support 3 Lifesaving Instructor Courses Community Instructor Courses Rookie Instructor Courses (you must also hold the Rookie Instructor qualification – to register online go to http://bit.ly/RLSSDirectRookieInstructor Route 2 – Lifesaving Instructor Tutor Course We have a Lifesaving Instructor Tutor Course which allows Lifesaving Instructors to become Tutors. In order for a Lifesaving Instructor to attend this course they first need to meet some criteria. RLSS UK Lifesaving Instructure Tutor Course, to attend this course you must meet the following requirements: Be 18 years old or above Hold a Lifesaving Instructor Qualification (most hold a valid RLSS UK Membership and Life Support) Have taught and assessed at least five Survive & Save award classes, including at least two bronze, two silver and one gold level class Have a good record of course administration Following the course, you will have completed the first stage of the process and will gain probationary Lifesaving Instructor Tutor status for 2 years. The second stage involves delivering a Lifesaving Instructor course while being shadowed by a Mentor, that will be assigned by RLSS UK. Lifesaving Instructor Lifesaving Instructor is the qualification needed to deliver the RLSS UK Survive and Save Programme. The Survive & Save Programme is our lifesaving award scheme for anyone aged 12 years and over. The awards are challenging but fun to complete and are arranged into Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to ensure that participants get the opportunity to develop their lifesaving skills as they progress through the awards. Who can deliver the Lifesaving Instructor Qualification?Lifesaving Instructor Tutor (and higher) What are the course pre-requisites? Aged 16 years or above (Lifesaving Instructors aged 16 years must have an Instructor aged 18+ years in the teaching venue when they are teaching) Hold a current Life Support 3 (or equivalent). A free Life Support 3 assessment can be completed as part of this course for candidates who do not hold the award Hold current RLSS UK membership. 6 months free membership will be given to any non-members attending this course. It is the Instructors responsibility to maintain this membership How many candidates can you have on a course?1 Instructor Tutor to 12 candidates (up to 24 candidates with 2 or more Instructor Tutors) How long does it take to run this course?Course duration is for guidance only and should reflect the needs of the candidates: 14 hours What are the Post Course requirements?Candidates will be given ‘probationary’ Lifesaving Instructor status following successful completion of the course, allowing them 24 months to get signed off by a fully qualified Lifesaving Instructor or Lifesaving Instructor Tutor.
