The Government have announced the closure of leisure centres and this will be a massive body blow to the industry, colleagues and our friends.

I say to you: we are with you and we will do everything we can to ensure you come out from this better and stronger than before.

This country needs a fit and healthy population, both for our physical and mental wellbeing. The sooner we can get back into swimming pools and gyms the better for our nation.

But first, we must find a way to combat this virus. At the moment that must be everyone’s priority.

We have been carefully planning our way through this and what we can do to support all our Approved Training Centres/Providers, Trainer Assessors, Instructors and candidates.

We have announced a three-month extension for the majority of our qualifications to support qualification holders if they are expiring 16 March to 30 June 2020. I know that you will most likely want to hear about our position regarding the NPLQ and NPSQ. The team are in direct urgent contact with the qualification regulators (Ofqual, CCEA, QiW) to explore if a similar approach can be taken. As soon as we come to a resolution with the regulators, you will hear from me straight away.

Our pledge is to work with you in every way possible to minimise the impact of these closures and help you get back up and running as soon as possible.

If there is a way that we can support you that we may not have thought of, please do let me know.

My email is [email protected] and if you email me I will give you my personal phone number so you can call me whenever you need.

If you want to get in touch then please do.

We stand in solidarity.

Our motto has never been more relevant than today - ‘Whomsoever you see in distress, recognise in him a fellow man’
