Ben Horne – Operations Manager for Godalming Leisure Centre discusses his thoughts on how he became a RLSS UK First Aid Trainer Assessor and an Approved Training Provider (ATP).

How did you find the First Aid Trainer Assessor application process?

The application was simple and easy, from finding the forms online, answering the questions to registering.

Why did you decide to become an Approved Training Provider (ATP)?

I simply decided to become an ATP as I enjoy delivering first aid training. I offered training through my place of work and at the time we would only accept customers who came to our centre to complete courses. I found some customers wanted to have trainers come to them, and at the time becoming an ATP myself was the only way to do that.

How many courses have you delivered?

We have delivered around six courses over the last 12 months.

What do you think of the master programme/lesson plans/PowerPoint presentations?

The teaching aids provided are very good in my opinion. The PowerPoint presentations are easy for the candidates to understand and relate back to the manuals and easy to navigate as a trainer. The master program and lesson plans are easy to follow and to add to if you want to make teaching notes to the sessions. The quality of the material provided for the candidates is extremely good.

On average how much profit do you make per course?

It entirely depends on the amount of candidates we have on each course and the location of the course. On average we make £200 – £550 per course.
