Lifesaving SportThe Royal Life Saving Society UK is the National Governing Body for pool-based Lifesaving Sport - a sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation. Lifesaving Sport is the only sport whose skills are first learned for humanitarian purposes. As showcased in our new promotional video, Lifesaving Sport is a competitive and dynamic international sport, with a variety of fun and challenging activities that take place in and out of the water at swimming pools and the beach. We are now seeking applications for officials for these Championships and the closing date for completed applications is 17 July 2024. It is anticipated that the successful applicants for the key official’s role, including the Chief Referee and Deputy Referee will be advised on or around 10 August 2024. All other official roles will be notified by 30 September 2024. Officials are required for the following events: Thursday 10 July Sport Development DayOpening Ceremonies Friday 11 July Championship Events Saturday 12 July Championship EventsMedal Ceremonies Sunday 13 July Championship EventsMedal CeremoniesClosing CeremoniesBanquet Travel and accommodation expenses for all officials are to be paid for by the individual concerned. No such expenses are provided for by the Host Organising Committee or the Royal Life Saving Society. Please note that if you will be travelling into the UK and require a visa, this process can take up to 3 months, and that visas should be applied for as soon as possible. To check if you require a visa to travel to the UK please visit the government website. You will also need to be aware that individual’s passport will have to be valid for a minimum of the duration of the stay in the UK in addition to any requirements of the individual’s own country. Further, there may be additional considerations if transiting through other European countries to get to the UK. Those selected to officiate at the 2025 Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships must abide by the RLSS UK Code of Conduct Policy (which will be sent once appointment is confirmed).
