I'm swimming 25km to support RLSS UK

In July 2021 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, a complete bolt out of the blue picked up on a routine mammogram. Prior to this time I had been a regular swimmer 2/3 times a week.

Following surgery and my radiotherapy my get up and go had gone for getting myself back into the swimming pool. I felt exhausted and too tired to get motivated. I would do a session and then nothing for a week or so. I just couldn’t get back into my previous routine of swimming 2/3 times a week.

My daughter Nichola brought Make a Splash to my attention and something clicked. My thought process was if I commit and friends and family support me that will be the driver to get me back into a regular swimming routine.

And it has worked, I was overwhelmed by the level of support from my nearest and dearest. That has been the driving force to succeed. I am now swimming every week again and I am on track to meet my challenge at the end of September. I feel much stronger being back in the pool and my efforts have raised money for such a deserving cause.

I would recommend anyone to do this, it has motivated me to do something to help others and has reinvigorated my enthusiasm for swimming.
