RLSS UK is committed to continuously improving lifeguard qualification and lifeguard training standards. To ensure that the organisation remains at the forefront of first aid knowledge and developments, it has established a dedicated Clinical Governance Group.

The group comprises experts in their field from various medical disciplines and includes Dr Anthony Handley, Chairman of the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK); Martin Horton, a Consultant Advanced Clinical Practitioner; Alex Gleeson, a Special Operations Response Team (SORT) Paramedic; Page Chamberlain a Resuscitation Officer for the Ambulance Service and a Critical Care Paramedic for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Stuart Braithwaite a doctor experienced in Anaesthetics/Critical Care and Emergency Medicine.

The group will support the RLSS UK Qualifications Development team in developing and reviewing first aid content for qualifications and awards, advising on responses to technical first aid enquiries and matters related to clinical or medical practices.

The individuals within this group are at the forefront of their professions with hands-on experience in various medical scenarios. They are instrumental in progressing the response and treatment of patients in their care. It is an honour to have them on board and look forward to working with them.”
