Water Rescue Equipment Register

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) and GoodSAM have partnered to develop a Water Rescue Equipment - Life Saving Map. The map plots Public Rescue Equipment (PRE), including Perry Buoys, rescue poles, and throw lines along the rivers, canals, coast and waterways of the UK and Ireland to assist in the case of an emergency incident.

How it works?

The Water Rescue Equipment Map is populated with the details of the precise location, type of equipment and any unique details. These can then be accessed by the emergency services or first responders when they are attending an incident. This reduces precious time wasted locating lifesaving equipment, providing a higher chance of a successful outcome to the rescue.

Help populate the map with water rescue equipment near you and save lives!

Populating the map is quick and easy, you don’t need a GoodSAM account to get involved, and by registering water rescue equipment yourself or encouraging others to, we can create the world’s biggest water rescue equipment helping to keep communities safer, supporting emergency services or first responders, and ultimately saving lives!

To add the location of a piece of water safety equipment to the register, follow the instructions below.

Step-by-step guide without a GoodSAM account holder

Step-by-step guide for GoodSAM account holders

When registering equipment, please avoid walking near flooded areas. Floodwaters can be treacherous, and unseen hazards and swift currents pose a severe risk.

Please note you can upload and amend water rescue equipment without a GoodSAM account but you will need an account to view it on the water rescue equipment map.

Reporting damage to water rescue equipment

GoodSAM account holders also have the ability to report damaged equipment. When the report has been received, we will temporarily remove it from the map and liaise with the landowners and local authorities to ensure that it is rescue-ready again before replacing it on the map.
