After 23 years teaching local children to swim, Debbie Harness has decided that it is time to retire as a volunteer teacher with Horncastle Otters Swimming Club.  Debbie started with Otters in 1993, bringing the first of her 3 girls along to learn to swim.  In the years that followed, Rosie Harness and Debbie’s husband Peter were awarded several of the Club’s trophies as they excelled in their swimming.  Always keen to develop her teaching skills, Debbie completed several Amateur Swimming Association and Royal Life Saving Society courses to become one of the best qualified of Otters instructors.  Debbie was also a regular on the Club Committee, often hosting meetings at her home in Horncastle.  She remains an active swimmer and a regular at Horncastle Pool.

An informal dinner was held last week at the George and Dragon, Hagworthingham, where several of Debbie’s colleagues, past and present gathered to wish her well.  Club Captain, Jackie Ross (standing) can be seen here, next to Matthew Brader (Club vice-Captain) and Fiona Martin, MBE (Club President) having presented Debbie with a small token of the Club’s esteem.  Debbie was accompanied to the dinner evening by her husband Peter.
