Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships: Team Managers RLSS UK is supporting the appointment of Team Managers for all the home Nations in preparation for and during the Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships taking place in Ontario, Canada. Dates 13 September – 17 September 2023 (travel dates to be confirmed nearer the time). Personal Specification Essential A member of RLSS UK Experience of working with and travelling with a team Sound understanding of UK Sport and ILS Anti-doping policies and procedures Knowledge of ILS rules, entry and protest procedures Excellent interpersonal communication skills Proven leadership and management skills Desirable Effective leader with a proven track record of successfully leading teams and or groups Experience in developing and executing a logistics plan for teams – ideally this will include managing sports teams Previous experience with international lifesaving events Experience in dealing with conflict Ability to motivate athletes and other team management This position will require the holder to conform to the RLSS UK Safeguarding policy and any successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check. Candidates must declare any interests, i.e. family, personal or club which could be relevant in any selection process which may be considered in the selection process. Role description Overall Ultimate responsibility for the behaviour, conduct, and wellbeing of the team and staff alike during the preparation phases as well as the Games period Manage all aspects of the Team at the Commonwealth Championships Act as an ambassador for RLSS UK Pre-Event To act as the main point of contact for the team Develop a selection process and criteria that are fair and transparent To support the preparation of athletes in the run up to the games Head up the selection panel for both additional team management members and athlete selection Travel arrangements in conjunction with RLSS UK Where team members are required to contribute personal funding, ensure that this is received within agreed deadlines, and follow up where required Arrange the required clothing and uniforms for all team members and management Ensure effective completion of any pre-entry and final entry forms Ensure compliance with all requirements of Anti Doping Policy Seek sponsorship for the team During Responsible for managing the safeguarding, discipline and behaviour of the team Arrange all required transportation, training, and catering requirements Regularly check with the organisers for latest information, practice schedules and competition schedules Ensure team members attend specials functions and adhere to dress codes Discuss selection for events with the coaching team but take the final decisions regarding participation in each event Post-Event Responsible for producing a comprehensive post Games report within 1 month of the closing Ceremony Remuneration This is an honorary position How to apply The closing date for applications is 5pm on Sunday 24 July 2022.
