Award-winning Rookie Lifeguard Izzy Serventi, is setting the pace with her dedication to the Nantwich Neptune Lifesaving Club.
At only seven years old, Izzy is the youngest member of the club and, in addition to her Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) Rookie Lifeguard participation, she is also fully embracing Swim England’s Learn To Swim programme.

RLSS UK’s (RLSS UK) Rookie Lifeguard programme equips youngsters up to 12-years-old, with water safety skills designed to have fun safely, in shallow or deep water. It offers Bronze, Silver and Gold award levels and fulfils all of the Key Stage 2 water safety elements of the National Curriculum.

Izzy explained why she wanted to be a Rookie Lifeguard. She said: “I’ve always enjoyed my swimming lessons but when I saw the advert for Rookie Lifeguard, I really wanted to jump right in.”

“There’s so much to do in the water, the games and challenges are great fun, I’ve learned lots and I’ve made new friends too!”

Izzy has already passed her Rookie Lifeguard Bronze Award, is over half way through her Learn To Swim programme and even came first in her group, at the club’s annual resuscitation and water safety competition.

Nantwich Neptune Rookie Lifeguard Coach, Julie Pearson said: “We offer numerous challenges for our club members, who age from eight to 80, but Izzy is an inspirational example of someone who just loves being in the water. She’s a joy to coach and we hope she adds to her awards and goes from strength-to-strength.”

Nantwich Neptune Lifesaving Club has been going for more than 40 years and has a history of success in national competitions. The club runs at Nantwich Pool, Wall Lane, Nantwich every Saturday morning 8:00 – 9:00am. Affiliated with RLSS UK, club members can get involved with water safety, lifesaving skills as well as national competitions.
