The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is pleased to announce that they have become Cyber Essentials Certified.

The charity takes its responsibility with personal data very seriously and has been working through the accreditation to ensure that the organisation’s policies and procedures in regard to cyber security are robust, and provide protection for candidate holders and the wider community whose data are stored on our systems.

Launched by the National Cyber Security Centre, a part of GCHQ, at the CYBERUK 2021 conference, Cyber Essentials is a government-backed scheme. It is designed to help protect against a whole range of most common cyber threats, and is a requirement for all suppliers that handle government contracts.

Managed by Cyber Essentials partner IASME consortium, it sets out technical controls organisations should have in place to protect themselves against common online security threats.

Oliver Hughes-Clarke, Head of Business Systems and IT said: “The nature of the charity and its business activities means that we hold personal data for a significant number of people. Whilst we were confident that the systems we had were robust, gaining Cyber Essentials Certification has provided additional reassurance that our IT systems can cope with cyber-attacks that are commonplace in modern society.
