24 athletes from across Great Britain head to Wales and Spain to compete against the best in the Europe.

A senior team and a youth team, each containing 12 athletes are set to complete in one of lifesaving sport’s toughest International events – the European Championships.

They represent the best that lifesaving sport in Great Britain (GBR) has to offer and have fought their way through a tough selection process, concluding in a trial event last weekend.

These elite athletes, all members of the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) or Surf Life Saving GB (SLSGB), will represent their country, battling it out against the best in the Europe in two championships; The National Senior Team will compete in Wales 1-8 August 2015 and the National Youth Team will compete in Alicante, Spain 23-29 September

The GB teams are:

Senior Team

George Haynes (Captain), Charlie Haynes, Dan Humble, Andrew Kane, Ashley Lewis, Chris Parry

Devon Amos, Tarryn Brown, Mali James, Lily Nichols, Mesha Wardman, Zara Williams

Youth Team

James Carpenter, Charlie Haynes, Nick Laws, Mitch McCallum, Marcus Or,  Keland Phinnemore

Emma Henderson (Captain), Izzy Berks, Rachel Carroll, Maia Garner, Olivia Sayer, Summer Whiteley

Sara Garner and Aled Bowen (Team Managers), said “We’re really happy with the team the selectors have chosen, they will do GB proud, and we have high hopes for medals and significant points in the Championships. The athletes have all trained so hard to secure their places and qualify for this event, which is both mentally and physically challenging. Being selected to represent GB at this competition is not only an honour and fantastic opportunity for our athletes, but it also helps to continue towards the development of lasting international friendships. Our sporting champions are extremely important role models and, working with their fellow athletes internationally, can only help the global battle to reduce drowning”
