Three men who rescued a baby from the River Severn in Shrewsbury are being awarded today by the Royal Life Saving Society UK for their bravery.

Attending from RLSS UK will be CEO Di Steer and RLSS UK Volunteer from the area, Steve Carter. The three men will be receiving Certificates of Recognition from the Royal Life Saving Society UK, the drowning prevention charity.

RLSS UK CEO, Di Steer, said: “We were so pleased to hear about the safe rescue of the baby from the River Severn last week and felt the three men involved deserved to be recognised in some way.

“I am looking forward to meeting them and presenting them with Certificates of Recognition from the Royal Life Saving Society UK, the drowning prevention charity, to commend their brave actions.

“It just goes to show how quickly a normal activity around water can turn into an awful incident and thankfully James, Mickey and Andrew’s quick thinking prevented this accident turning into a tragedy. Well done to the three of them.”
