With summer finally here and some sunshine to enjoy, many of you may be making the most of it and enjoying activities around water.

Last week we shared with you seven water safety tips on our Facebook and Twitter pages so you can have fun and stay safe, but in case you missed them we thought we’d share all seven with you again.

Check if the local beach has lifeguard cover

Swim with children in your care

Learn the meanings of the lifeguard flags

Stay back from the water’s edge

Always wear a lifejacket for activities on or near the water

Empty paddling pools and buckets as soon as they have been used

Check when the tide will be low and high, and make sure that you won’t be cut off by the rising tide

So if you are heading to the beach, enjoying a picnic by the river or getting the paddling pool out in the garden then be sure to keep in mind our water safety messages.

Please share with us any photos of your summer celebrations when you are out and about near water. Post them onto our Facebook wall.
