Recently Grantham Life Saving Club had their end of season awards presentation, with the awards being presented to individuals by Ian Doherty, one of RLSS UK’s Customer Engagement Mangers.

Diane Found from Grantham Life Saving Club has shared with us how the evening went.

What a fantastic finish Grantham Life Saving Club have had to the season, with an amazing amount of awards being handed out on our presentation night. Ian Doherty, Customer Engagement Manager, of the Royal Life Saving Society UK, presented the awards for us.

For the Rookies we awarded  6 Bronze Stage 1, 5 Bronze Stage 2, 6 Bronze Stage 3, 13 Silver Stage 2, 3 Gold Stage 1, 6 Gold Stage 2, and 2 Gold Stage 3. We also awarded 4 Rookie Gold sports awards. In Survive & Save we awarded 8 Bronze Medallion, 12 Silver Medallion and 9 Silver Sport. Also awarded were 6 National Pool Lifeguard Qualifications, 1 Life Support, 2 Life Support 3 and a Distinction of the old kind, the last one to be awarded in our club. Also 3 Assistant Beach Lifeguards were awarded with their qualification.

We have been lucky enough to have training take place mainly in the pool at the Meres, but also in the reservoir at Rutland Water and the sea at Chapel St Leonards this year allowing the members to build on their skills and encouraging them to behave safely around any type of water.

It’s great to hear so many awards have been achieved, and hope that more will be presented at the clubs next end of season awards ceremony.
