RLSS UK Approved Training Centre Telford & Wrekin Council, have been busy ensuring their staff are ready for when swimming pools are allowed to re-open. Over three days, RLSS UK Trainer Assessors from four swimming pool sites, ran multiple sessions to deliver 115 Return to Work Competency Assessments for the Council’s Pool Lifeguards.

The sessions consisted of eight staff in each, and there was a Training Assessor split between dry side and poolside, with no cross over of groups between sessions to ensure distancing guidelines were followed.

Steve Carter, Training Specialist at Telford & Wrekin Council said, “They were an exhausting few days but the staff are excited to be preparing our pools for re-opening and are eager to get back to their jobs. I’m also now an expert at changing manikin faces and airways and sanitising in between!”

The Lifeguard Return to Work Competency Assessment and Training is detailed within our Operator Guidance document for Lifeguards (pool, beach, and open water) and, ensures that staff returning from lockdown have the lifesaving skills they require to protect the public.
