RLSS UK would like to receive a confirmation of interest from athletes who would like to be considered for selection to represent Team Northern Ireland in the RLSS Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving.

Selection Criteria

Representation of our best athletes at prestigious international competitions is important to RLSS UK.

• The Team Manager and Team coaches will select the team.
• The selection is final and no appeals will be considered.
• Team size: 5 male / 5 female in each team (10 National team)
• Athletes will be selected for the team based on previous national and international competition results (both lifesaving sport and the national lifesaving championships).
• Athletes will be selected based on their submitted results and their athletic record in the race disciplines
• All declared results will be checked and verified by RLSS UK
• Selected Athletes will be invited to attend training events prior to travel to the competition. The training events are designed to maximise on team ability, and ensure the athletes maintain fitness.
• All athletes declaring for team selection will be notified that their declarations have been received
• Team Northern Ireland will review athletes subject to interest shown and announce the team at the end of 30^th July 2019.
• Athletes have to be at least 16yrs by 31/12/2019
• RLSS UK Individual membership is a requirement of competing.

Cost

This competition is self-funded.

The Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving is likely to cost approx. £650 (estimate) to cover competition entry, closing ceremony, travel, accommodation, food & kit.

Athletes selected for the Teams will be required to pay an initial deposit of £100 within 7 days of the squad announcement and the full payment must be paid to RLSS UK by 31/08/2019. Team Northern Ireland is working hard to reduce costs through sponsorship.
