Make a splash and save lives

Gillian Shaw

Following my breast cancer diagnosis in 2021 and subsequent treatment I have failed miserably to return to swimming, an activity I love. This has been primarily due to fatigue and the side effects of longer term medication.

Make a Difference

I am fundraising for Make A Splash and the Royal Lifesaving Society because as a lifeguard myself I strongly believe that as much support should be given to prevent accidents in the water. Every year there are thousands of injuries and deaths in the UK alone due to lack of water safety, mostly in children, which can be easily avoided if the support is provided. So I am swimming for Make a Splash to Make a Difference!

I am fundraising for the RLSS UK as I am a lifeguard and know how important water safety is. I also knew that I wanted to challenge myself while raising money for an organisation that I believe is very important.
