Application Process

To become a RLSS UK Pool National Trainer Assessor, there is a four-stage process.

Stage 1 - Online Application

The online application form asks you to confirm you meet the prerequisites, upload your evidence, and detail your training, assessing and mentoring experience. We also ask you to answer some questions about why you think you would make a great National Trainer Assessor.

Stage 2 - Video Submission and Compliance Verification

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be asked to provide a 20-minute video on your delivery of the subject specialism of your choice (e.g. NPLQ) from the specialism of your choice. The video will be submitted to the RLSS UK team ([email protected]) for review to be assessed, scored, and feedback will be provided back to the applicant. The video must be of high quality for both video and audio, including the applicant, candidates, and the delivery methods for review (the practical assessment record should also be submitted at this stage.)

A status check with the Compliance team will also be made, confirming suitability for the role.

Upon a successful observation of delivery and assessment and a successful compliance check, the application will then proceed to Stage 3 - Technical Knowledge Assessment.

Stage 3 - Technical Knowledge Assessment

Applicants that are successful in stage 1 and 2 will be invited to take part in a technical knowledge assessment carried out over the telephone (30 mins - 1 hour). Your current knowledge of the content of the syllabus and guidance for your qualifications will be put to the test, as well as your knowledge of mentoring. You will require a good underpinning knowledge in order to make a great National Trainer Assessor.

Stage 4 - NTA Course

Applicants that are successful in stages 1, 2 and 3 will qualify for a place on the NTA course. A two-day interactive workshop-based course that provides you with all of the information you will need to successfully train the next generation of Trainer Assessors. There is an assessment at the end of the course that you will need to pass in order to gain your probationary NTA status.

Probationary NTA Period

Those that successfully pass the NTA course will be awarded Probationary NTA status. You will then have two years to fully organise and deliver a Trainer Assessor Course. During the course, you will be moderated by a member of the RLSS UK team to ensure quality and consistent delivery and adherence to RLSS UK Qualifications guidelines. On successful completion of this moderation, full NTA status will be issued.
