Become an RLSS UK Trainer Assessor (TA) RLSS UK’s Trainer Assessor (TA) course enables candidates to become a Trainer Assessor and be responsible for the delivery of RLSS UK’s vocational qualifications throughout the UK and Ireland. What is an RLSS UK Trainer Assessor (TA)? An RLSS UK Trainer Assessor (TA) is an individual who is qualified to deliver and assess RLSS UK qualifications. A TA can help train and assess other staff members in RLSS UK qualifications, and/or they can deliver RLSS UK qualifications to other businesses and/or the public. Prerequisites to Become an RLSS UK TA Every candidate attending a Trainer Assessor course must be: At least 18 years of age. Hold a current Licence to Operator Membership to the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK). Hold a full qualification that matches the RLSS UK qualification that they wish to train others in (e.g. to become a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) Trainer Assessor, you must hold a full National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)). How do I become a Trainer Assessor (TA)? Step 1) Hold a full RLSS UK qualification that matches what you want to become a TA for (e.g. NPLQ). To become a RLSS UK Trainer Assessor, candidates must first hold a full RLSS UK qualification matching the course they would like to become a Trainer Assessor for. For example, to become a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) Trainer Assessor, you must hold a full National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Step 2) Find a Trainer Assessor course on RLSS UK Course Finder. Many courses on RLSS UK Course Finder are comprised of the following course content: Days 1-3 = TA Core Qualification Each candidate is required to complete a 3-day TA Core qualification which includes three modules and allows them to become a Probationary RLSS UK Trainer Assessor for AED. Module 1: Train the Trainer (1 day) Module 2: Train the Assessor (1 day) Module 3: CPR and AED (1 day) Days 4+ = Qualification Specialism Typically, Trainer Assessor courses are run to qualify candidates as new TAs in a particular course (e.g. NPLQ). You can easily become qualified as a TA for other qualifications/specialisms in the future and you don’t need to redo the TA Core qualification each time. You can become a fully qualified Trainer Assessor in only one RLSS UK qualification specialism, you do not need to do all the qualifications on this list. Step 3) Find a Trainer Assessor Course with your Chosen Specialism Next, you need to find and attend a suitable Trainer Assessor course in the specialism that you require (e.g. NPLQ TA course). How to Find a Trainer Assessor Course with a Certain Specialism Step 4) You’ve Successfully Passed your Trainer Assessor Course After completing an RLSS UK Trainer Assessor course, you will then become a Probationary Trainer Assessor (PTA) and will be supported by a National Trainer Assessor (NTA) or a Mentor in delivering your first trainer course and first assessor course. A PTA's probationary period is a maximum of two years. If a PTA does not successfully complete their probationary period they will need to requalify as a PTA by redoing the appropriate specialism course.
