Working a nine-week summer season with Camp America opens a world of opportunities!

But before you even get to interview, you need to stand out in the 100,000+ applications that Camp America receives yearly.

One way to do this is to qualify as a lifeguard and be one of the 6,000 lucky people recruited yearly for Camp America's waterside sites – you'll be the envy of your friends and a lifeguard role can earn you more than your peers, too!

Fiind a Lifeguard course near you!

Camp America deem lifeguarding an ‘Advanced Skill’, and as specialists, lifeguards are eligible to become an Advanced Skills Counsellor and receive a higher pocket money rate!

To be a lifeguard with Camp America, you'll need to hold a current lifeguard qualification and, ideally, have previous experience working as a lifeguard.

The UK and Ireland’s leading lifeguard qualification is the Royal Life Saving Society UK's (RLSS UK) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Over 40,000 pool lifeguards qualify with the RLSS UK every year - that's 95% of all UK pool lifeguards!

Benefits of taking the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) include:

✅You can gain employment and get that all-important lifeguard experience
The NPLQ is internationally recognised
You’ll learn lifesaving skills
The skills gained are transferrable to a range of careers
You’ll grow in confidence
It’s rewarding, fun and great for fitness
Great for your CV, too!

The NPLQ course's benefits extend beyond your time at Camp America, providing great employment opportunities on your return from camp. Qualified and experienced lifeguards are in high demand as there’s a shortage of lifeguards here in the UK. Someone say UCAS points! The NPLQ is also a Level 3 qualification, therefore registered with UCAS and worth 8 UCAS Tariff points (effective May 2024) – so it’s great for uni applications, too!

There are NPLQ courses scheduled across the UK and Ireland; find one now!
