Guidance for Operators Managing Lifeguards & Swimming Teachers During COVID-19 PLEASE NOTE: The information on this page has been superseded by new guidance - please do not follow any advice on this page. RLSS UK has been committed to supporting the industry during COVID-19 and provided guidance throughout, using our experience, expert Advisors, Partners and information from various government groups and other organisations to provide support. Various guidance documents have been created and used throughout the pandemic. In July 2021, the following statement, was published (regarding Operators managing lifeguards and swimming teachers): Following the changes to the restrictions in England from 19/07/2021, Operators managing lifeguards or swimming teachers will need to review relevant risk assessments created to mitigate the risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19 whilst they undertake their role. Any changes made must be in line with the latest restrictions/government guidelines. Update 15/10/2021 The easing of restrictions has meant some of the guidance below may no longer be relevant. However, COVID-19 is still prevalent, and it remains the Operator’s responsibility to protect lifeguards and swimming teachers from contracting COVID-19. It is for Operators to carry out risk assessments and determine the control measures they will put in place. Important - The guidance from Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) regarding providing CPR during COVID-19 still remains in place and full information can be found in the guidance below. Guidance for training and assessing during COVID-19 has been updated and can be found here.
