In their latest data release launched today, the NCMD highlight an 8% rise in the number of children dying in England in the last 12-month period to 3,743. Their data continues to show that children from areas of high deprivation, as well as those from Black or Asian ethnic groups are at higher risk. In the coming weeks and months, RLSS UK will be working closely with the NCMD to analyse how these findings relate specifically to child drowning, in our belief that no child should drown. Charity Director Lee Heard said, “At Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), we are committed to being driven by data, to ensure that our water safety initiatives are focused on the areas that will have the most impact. As such, we are really pleased to be working with the NCMD in bringing new insights to life.” Read more on headline findings from the NCMD latest data release: Child Death Review Data Release: Year ending 31 March 2023 Deaths of children and young people due to traumatic incidents report The National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) Manage Cookie Preferences
