For renewal within the period of validity of your existing NRASTC, suitable and sufficient (six-hours) ongoing training and competency assessment hours may be used in place of attending an eight-hour refresher course (including a two-hour assessment).

Ongoing training and competency assessment hours can be achieved by:

  • Attendance at ongoing NRASTC/lifeguard training and competency assessment (strongly recommended)
  • Attendance at alternative training, face-to-face or online, relating to in-water swimming pool rescue skills, CPR, First Aid and NRASTC/lifeguard theory

If you have completed suitable and sufficient ongoing training and competency assessment hours (six hours), then you can complete a renewal course.

If the 'Results - Map' doesn't show any courses in your area, contact your local leisure centre, swimming pool, or lifesaving club for possible upcoming courses.

Failure to renew within the period of validity of your existing NRASTC qualification will result in you undertaking the full NRASTC course and assessment again. This carries an approximate £150 charge and a 16-hour training commitment.
