Peter’s strategic leadership experience in the public, private and voluntary sector spans over 20 years. Currently, Peter is the Chief Executive of the Life Skills Education charity, specialising in drug and alcohol education for young people.

After graduating from the Police Strategic Command course in 2008, he joined the Nottinghamshire Police Chief Officer team and is a former Director of Nottingham City Council, responsible for the Crime and Drugs Partnership and commissioning the city’s drug treatment services.

The role of visiting Fellow of Nottingham Trent University’s School of Business, Law and Social Sciences, has been a welcome outlet for his extensive experience of working with academics and developing evidenced-based interventions. He is a user-member of the Economic Social Research Council’s Grant Assessment Panel and a member of the UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowships panel.

No stranger to the Society, Peter gained his first Bronze Medallion at 12-years-old, becoming a teacher for the Society just six years later. He continues to be an active member, having served the Board of Trustees for both RLSS and RLSS UK and was elected President for the period 2013-16. He is also Chairman of Retford and District Lifesaving Club, a coach and competitor at all levels, up to World Championships.
