He's also been heavily involved in lifesaving, managing Lifesaving teams in various national competitions. He was awarded the Distinction Award in Lifesaving in 1970. Since 1990, he has been employed as an independent consultant, offering advice in all aspects of pool technical installations and water chemistry problems and does this alongside being a Tutor for ISRM. He has represented ISRM on various projects and presentations throughout the UK and Europe and also assisted in the production of manuals and course specification as well as having been president Midlands region ISRM in 1994, being awarded the highest institute award in 2006 - the F.R. Botham Award. He has 21 years’ experience of managed facilities and departments in Local Authorities and has also worked in Hong Kong, Europe, and the Middle East.
