Eleven-year-old Mateusz Stomski helped rescue a six-year-old girl when she got into difficulty in Kilmarnock’s Galleon Centre pool, navigating a set of inflatables with her sisters. Mateusz noticed the girl was on the bottom of the pool, lifted her up out of the water and shouted for help. The lifeguard performed CPR before the girl was taken to a local hospital, where she made a full recovery.

Mateusz is pictured with RLSS UK CDPC Stephen Lyon, who joined Alistair Jardine from the Scotland West Branch, to present him with the Young Person’s Certificate of Commendation.
