Renewal within the period of validity of your existing NVBLQ is straightforward, requiring completion of a two-hour renewal assessment. This includes a full assessment of your knowledge and skills by an independent assessor.

Candidates renewing their existing qualification should have been involved in regular on-going in-service training over the last 24 months. This training should have covered the complete range of skills within the syllabus. We recommend that candidates keep records of all the training they receive.

Candidates must meet the following conditions before you arrange a renewal assessment:

  • They must hold a current, full NVBLQ
  • They must have access to the most recent copy of NVBLQ candidate manual

CPD can be achieved by:

  • Attendance at open water lifeguard ongoing training and competency assessment (strongly recommended)
  • Attendance at alternative training, face-to-face or online, relating to In-open water rescue skills, CPR, First Aid and open water lifeguard theory

Contact your local course organiser to arrange your NVBLQ renewal assessment or visit www.rlssdirect.co.uk/course-finder to find a course near you.

Failure to renew within the period of validity of your existing NVBLQ will result in you undertaking the full NVBLQ course and assessment again. This carries an approximate £300 charge and 40-hour training commitment.
