About Water Rescue Equipment Training

As the UK’s leading provider of water safety education and training, RLSS UK has developed a two-hour Water Rescue Equipment Training session to ensure as many people as possible are confident and competent in the use of water rescue equipment found around waterways.

The session develops skills and confidence in rescue equipment use, as well as developing the knowledge and ability to safely improvise, where no rescue equipment is available.

Why not put yourself and/or members of your team forward, to take part in in this Water Rescue Equipment Training and help to grow the number of people with rescue skills in your local area and ultimately prevent drownings.

The RLSS UK Water Rescue Equipment Training covers:

  • Open water hazards (such as canals and rivers)
  • Cold water shock
  • Types of rescue
  • Public Rescue Equipment (PRE)

Each person who successfully completes the training and achieves the required level of competence will receive an e-certificate. Training is then valid for two years from the date of completion.

How is Water Rescue Equipment Training delivered?

This two-hour session has been designed to be delivered in a dry environment and access to water is not required. For those that have safe access near water, this may support the delivery of elements within the training session, such as spotting open water hazards.

Trainers will have access to an ‘Instructor Guide’ including session plans, and for those with access to presentation facilities, an accompanying PowerPoint presentation.

Water Rescue Equipment Training Candidate Manuals, issued to every candidate, include all the information covered throughout the session, allowing for a flexible delivery for those without access to a training room.

Please note: There is a competency assessment at the end of the session that includes verbal questions and a practical element demonstrating safe use of a throw bag.

The maximum number of candidates per training session is 12.

The cost will vary dependent on the trainer.
