Water Safety Advice For Your Business

Established more than 130 years ago, RLSS UK is recognised worldwide as an expert in lifeguarding and water safety.

Every year we certify more than 60,000 regulated qualifications and non-regulated vocational training awards, and more lifeguards qualify with us than with any other awarding body! Why? Because we're at the cutting edge of water safety, lifesaving, lifeguarding, and life support skills. We rigorously review our qualifications, and we sit on many industry panels to evolve and develop national safety standards. We are also at the forefront of supporting companies to manufacture and distribute innovative and compliant lifesaving equipment, and the RLSS UK Shop offers official uniform and training, First Aid, and safety equipment for the leisure industry.

We work with an impressive list of national leisure providers and partners - ranging from hotels, spas, and competition pools to leisure centres and aqua parks. We develop bespoke training services for many sectors - including the cruise and holiday industries and are experts at delivering clear and practical consultancy support to any business or individual with liabilities to visitors and staff around water, including events, construction, and outdoor recreation.

Our trusted brand gives peace of mind to businesses and the millions of customers who access the facilities we support.

  • Managing Safety at Inland Water Sites

Managing Safety at Inland Water Sites

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has a comprehensive report available to support ‘Managing Safety at Inland Waters ’.

The report offers a wealth of advice, primarily targeted at those in effective control of all sites where visitors have access to inland bodies of water e.g. canals, reservoirs, and lakes. The report does not cover coastal waters, areas of water solely used by industry, or bodies of water within private domestic premises and is not designed to offer bespoke solutions to the unique and varied issues raised by individual bodies of water.

Led by RoSPA, the report is a result of a wider collaboration with ourselves with additional support from members of the National Water Safety Forum.

Jo Talbot, Commerical Director of the Royal Life Saving Society UK said:

“We welcome the comprehensive and thorough approach RoSPA has taken to the issue of inland water safety and recognise that inland bodies of water are increasingly significant features of leisure complexes, retail parks, active open spaces and travel routes. In turn, these play a vital role in the mental and physical health and well-being of the general public.

“With our own Water Safety Consultancy Service already up and running and supported by our suite of open water qualifications, I am confident that we are best-placed to advise and support anyone concerned about managing safety or who may be looking at creating, developing or improving access to, a body of water on their land.

“Hopefully this report will encourage and inspire people to review their existing approach to safety and to consider opening up their bodies of water for everyone’s benefit and we’re here to help make that process smooth and easy for them.”
