Welcome to the NEW Lifesaving Sports Area, this area has been set up to help you easily navigate everything lifesaving sport related! 


The Royal Life Saving Society UK is a National Governing Body for Lifesaving Sport - a sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation. 

Our aim is to provide an inclusive range of opportunities to increase participation in lifesaving activities.

We recognise the importance of equipping as many people as possible with valuable lifesaving skills to help save as many lives as possible and to help reduce the drowning toll in the UK.

    Regional Heat Event Window – 9 July to 2 October 2022

    This is the home of the regional heats of this year’s National Lifesaving Championship.

    The National Lifesaving Championships Final will take place at John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds.


    Rules

    The College of Referees is pleased to present the rules for the National Lifesaving Championship 2022.

    Significant Changes:

    1. Section 1.2.1 – Clarification of entries
    2. Section 1.2.3 - Explanation of Reserves
    3. Section 1.9.2 (vi) Clarification of the protest fee
    4. Section 1.9.4(v) Removed fee payable to appeals committee
    5. Section 2.10.5 Championship Organiser added
    6. Section 3.3.2 Updated the starting procedure
    7. Section 3.4(vi) CPR will be compression only - no rescue breathing due to covid restrictions
    8. Section 3.5(vii) CPR will be compression only - no rescue breathing due to covid restrictions
    9. Section 3.6(iv) Explanation of holding the crossbar.             
    10. Section 3.7 Tea towel removed and T-shirt or Polo Shirt added to be used as towing aid

    Entries

    The Royal Life Saving Society is delighted to announce the entries for the 2022 Lifesaving National Championships open

    Entry Deadline 1700hrs 1 July 2022

    Categories

    Championships and heats shall be held in the following categories:

    • Junior Girls (12 – 14 years)
    • Junior Boys / Mixed (12 – 14 years)
    • Senior Girls (15 – 17 years)
    • Senior Boys / Mixed (15 – 17 years)
    • Ladies Individual (16+)
    • Men’s Individual (16+)
    • Masters Ladies (Age Groups: 30-39 years; 40-49 years; 50-59 years; 60+)
    • Masters Men's (Age Groups: 30-39 years; 40-49 years; 50-59 years; 60+)

    Entry Requirements 

    All competitors for the Championships must be in current individual category membership and hold or have held one of the awards (as listed in the rules) by 1700 hrs 1 July 2022. All competitors must remain in membership throughout their participation in the competition.

    Pre-requisites

    Competitors shall, at the date of entry, fulfill the following conditions:

    Masters, Individuals and Seniors- hold or have held a: RLSS UK Survive & Save Bronze Medallion, Beach or Stillwater Award (or higher) Platinum Jubilee Medallion, or RLSS UK Beach Lifeguard qualification or RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard qualification, including RLSS UK Assistant Beach Lifeguard.

    Juniors – hold or have held a current RLSS UK Survive & Save Bronze Medallion, Beach or Stillwater Award (or higher), Platinum Jubilee medallion, or Rookie Silver Level 3.

    Dive starts

    Competitors who wish to dive will need to have completed the Dive Start Check List
