Lifesaving Sport

The Royal Life Saving Society UK is the National Governing Body for pool-based Lifesaving Sport - a sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation. Lifesaving Sport is the only sport whose skills are first learned for humanitarian purposes.

As showcased in our new promotional video, Lifesaving Sport is a competitive and dynamic international sport, with a variety of fun and challenging activities that take place in and out of the water at swimming pools and the beach. It is also an important vehicle to engage young people in lifesaving and support drowning prevention.

Following the awesome efforts of the GBR Lifesaving Team at the World Life Saving Championships in Riccione, Italy, The One Team Advisory Group would like to thank everyone for their efforts and for making the event such a success.

A special thank you to the managers, coaches, physiotherapists, and support team for your professionalism and passion in enabling our teams to perform so brilliantly. We have loved watching how the athletes have supported each other, shown great sportsmanship, and acted as exemplary ambassadors for our sport. We especially loved the guards of honour!

Now to our athletes. We are so proud of your efforts. You have done yourselves, your families, clubs and the organisations proud, thank you. It has been great seeing you in your element, on the world's biggest stage, competing with the best and achieving great results! Your dedication and commitment to our sport is evident and we wish you well for the winter season and look forward to seeing you in the competition next year.

Finally, to HQ staff, officials, judges and parents. Without you, it simply wouldn’t happen, many many thanks!
