This three-day Combined Paediatric First Aid  & First Aid at Work course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills for both adults and paediatrics, providing employers and your staff with the skills to reduce the risks and dangers in your workplace. The three-day combined Paediatric First Aid  & First Aid at Work course is endorsed by CIMSPA (both qualifications), meaning that training has been quality assured by CIMSPA and delivered by a CIMSPA education partner. It is also in line with the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF). 




About the Course 

The Level 3 Combined Paediatric First Aid & First Aid at Work Qualification covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses. 

This three-day course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills for adults and paediatrics, providing you with the skills to ensure a safe working environment. 

The qualifications are Ofqual accredited and valid for three years, making it suitable for all industries and enabling you to meet HSE requirements. 

The Combined Paediatric First Aid & First Aid at Work course is 22 hours and can be delivered over three consecutive days or split into smaller sessions and delivered over seven weeks from the start of the course. 


Prerequisites 

Candidates must be a minimum of 16-years-old at the time of taking the assessment. No prior first aid knowledge is required.

Course Content 

A range of subjects are covered, including: 

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider 
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally 
  • How to manage a casualty who is in shock 
  • How to assess an incident 
  • How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking 
  • How to manage a casualty with a minor injury 
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally 
  • How to manage a casualty with external bleeding 
  • Understanding the role of the paediatric first aider 
  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally 
  • How to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively 
  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction 
  • How to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is wounded and bleeding 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture and a dislocation 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with a head, a neck and a back injury 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock 
  • How to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has been bitten or stung

Assessment 

The course comprises practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical assessment on CPR and first aid. All assessment criteria in the units must be achieved. 


Renewal 

In order to re-qualify, learners must be assessed against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the unit by re-attending The Level 3 Combined Paediatric First Aid & First Aid at Work Qualification
