Lifesaving Sport

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is the National Governing Body for pool-based Lifesaving Sport - a sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation. Lifesaving Sport is the only sport whose skills are first learned for humanitarian purposes.

As showcased in our new promotional video, Lifesaving Sport is a competitive and dynamic international sport, with a variety of fun and challenging activities that take place in and out of the water at swimming pools and the beach. It is also an important vehicle to engage young people in lifesaving and support drowning prevention.

In case you missed it, RLSS UK is gearing up to host the 2025 Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships this summer, from 10 – 13 July. With less than six months to go, planning is in full swing and excitement is building.

The Championships will be held in Swansea, Wales for the first time and our event team at RLSS UK have been to visit the fantastic venues we’ve secured for all events over the course of the week (and taste-test plenty of Welsh Cakes!).

Wales National Pool

The competitions will be held from the Wales National Pool, which boasts an Olympic-sized pool and 1,200 spectator seats for family and friends to watch the action in comfort.

Just a short drive away is Swansea Bay Campus, which will be the hub of our ‘Athlete’s Village’, providing attendees with fantastic accommodation and a place to eat and socialise. On site you’ll find a pay-as-you-go gym to keep you active and plenty of ‘Swansea Uni Cycles’ - a fun way to get around campus. Coach transport will be provided to ensure teams can easily travel between Swansea Bay and the Pool.
