1. Choose lifeguarded beaches - know when lifeguards are on duty.
  2. Adhere to warning signs and flags.
  3. Never let young children out of your reach - supervision is the key. 
  4. Do not swim near or dive from rocks, piers, breakwater, and coral.
  5. Do not use inflatable dinghies or lilos – you could get swept out to sea.
  6. If you get stuck in quicksand, do not stand up - lie down, spread your weight, call for help.
  7. If you get into trouble or feel overwhelmed – stay calm, float on your back, call for help.
  8. Know and follow the Water Safety Code.
